I Need A Hug

Right now, the world is asking a lot of me, and at the same time, it's taking away the things I like. No dancing for at least four more weeks, and no seders at all this year. (A speakerphone call to the Pony Family seder in Massachusetts is nice, but it isn't the real thing. Not really.)

Here's a great big hug! I cannot even imagine how you managed Passover without a Seder. I missed being invited to one and I am not Jewish!

Then I tried to find you a nice picture of a seder and I couldn't focus. I only found Martha Stewart (I didn't know Stewart was a Jewish name?). This is starting to sound like one of those long "Funny. You don't look Jewish" jokes. My recently deceased father-in-law had a half dozen really good examples of those, which required him to do a Jewish grandmother from the Urkraine accent and he did one really well (I think he used his mother-in-law as a model!).

Passover a la Martha Stewart (only in New York!) and another hug for good measure.

As the saying goes, next year . . .

(Excuse all the edits. It's way past by bedtime and I just can't write or type!)

That's a lovely picture. I especially like the bouquet. It makes everything look kind of peaceful. Thank you for showing me that!

RL sucks at times!

Thank you. RL does suck sometimes. Especially since I found out today that the reason that I have to sacrifice Passover to the gamelan is because last year, we had our concert on Mother's Day, boo hoo.

Passover =/= Mother's Day.

Thank you! And tea, too!

So sorry, FP. That's hard.

Thank you. At least someone was nice enough to bring a box of matzo to the all-day gamelan rehearsal today to supplement the GIANT TRAY OF BAKLAVA.

::hugs:: I remember my first semester in college and being alone for the High Holy Days. I've never cried so much since that time. We'll set an extra plate for you today.

We'll set an extra plate for you today.

That's sweet. I'm waiting for the Pony Family to call from their seder now.

I think you would have appreciated all the girls and their antics at our seder. I do a very short seder (since I have very young kids and all my friends do too). My mom got these finger puppets for the plagues and people had a fun time waving them around as they were called out.

We actually had 21 people (including a baby) at the seder and I thought the whole thing went quite well. Now the girls are going to bed and I'm despairing. They are exhausted. I can only hope that tomorrow is relatively low-key and they will be fairly well rested for school on Monday!

The finger puppets sound like a great idea! And I love big seders.

A very big hug for Pony. It's rough being alone on the holidays when you're used to a big family celebration.

Thanks. I did have a phone call, which helped. And I wasn't stuck in the airport in Cleveland. And next year with the Ponies!

i'm the veteran of many sederless year scattered in the wilderness. some years it sucks more than others.

i hope the matzoh fairy brings you what you want last year. also that the gamelan concert organizer gets a grip. *deletes rant about hanukkah getting all the respect due to its proximity to some other holiday*

The matzo fairy is going to get a big wish list from me, you can count on that. As for Mike, I don't think he's ever going to get a grip. After all, this was the man who needed three e-mails to understand the concept of "I just got out of the hospital from a ruptured appendix, and I'm going to be very sick for several more weeks and then have abdominal surgery, so I don't think I'll be physically able to perform in the gamelan concert this spring, so I'm dropping out early in the process."

Three e-mails before he understood that I really meant it.

I'm sorry I'm late, so you get triple!

Thank you thank you thank you!

And it's off to Liverpool in a short while, so things are already looking up. Nothing like the Atlantic Ocean to come between you and your problems.
