Quick Hello From Liverpool

The conference is over, and it was fantastic -- much better than I'd expected. I heard many fascinating papers, and took lots and lots of pictures while touristing around the city in my free time. I'll be going back to Chicago tomorrow, and once I've got my head together, I'll start organizing my photos for the Dreaded Picspams.

I'm so glad the conference went well and you've been having a good time! Have a safe trip back.

Everton won on penalties, but you probably know that ;-)

Back in Chicago, nice and safe.

I kind of picked up that one of the two teams won on a referee's decision, but I hadn't figured out which team was which at that point. Yay Everton?

Sounds like a great time. I look forward to the pictures.

But fascinating papers at a con? That's rare, I'm sad to say.

I thought the paper about the "history" of the bodhran was kind of cool, and the one about London's klezmer scene was pretty nifty, too. And then there was this guy who used economic theory to explain how this Ghanaian ballet company strikes just the right note of authenticity for its audiences.

A belated welcome to the UK! I hope you had a wonderful time.

I did have a great time! There will be wild and wacky picspams as soon as I get my head together.

The Toffees won, so Liverpool is probably full of very happy people. Or not, if they're Liverpool supporters.

Have you 'Ferryed 'Cross the Mersey'? Or haven't you have enough time?

Alas, I left too early in the morning to tell whether or not people were excited.

I didn't "Ferry 'Cross the Mersey," because the free time I had was on Sunday afternoon, and there didn't appear to be any ferries running. But I did go down to the docks, and I did get a photo of the place where one could ferry cross the Mersey, if there were any ferries around.

Better than expected? How wonderful!

Your picspams are never dreaded, at least not by me. I await scouser goodness.

And scouser goodness you shall have, as soon as I get my head together and sort through the photos.

Congratualtions! and have a safe trip back! I'm looking forward to the picspamming!

And LOL on the music. Not a minor deed for Everton!

Well, I was using the internet kiosk at the hostel, and it's in the same room as the TV, and there were a lot of people cheering for Everton on the TV. Yay Everton!

Congrats! I'm glad the paper went well and that you had an opportunity to do the tourist thing. I am greatly looking forward to the picspam.

I did not spend $900 of the school's money on plane fare to go and hear papers without seeing Liverpool! And I saw lots of it, too.
