Feel The Love!

The Pony Parents came to visit this weekend, which is why I haven't been around much. I loved having them! We went out to Chinatown and to the Velvet Lounge (taking the Pony Parents to a jazz club was a trip in and of itself), we traveled way out past the edges of town to find the cemetery where my grandparents (Dad Pony's parents) are buried, we visited the university, and they got to meet some of the Music Department personalities, the Cubbies won several games in a row, it didn't rain, so my roof didn't leak . . . life was good.

ETA: And then the music graduate students had a margarita party yesterday. This ended happily with a rather plastered Pony, but a nice long sleep definitely helps with that.

A Margarita party on Tuesday! Ah, the resilience of youth!

PArents on visit are good... for a short time! Did you have good eating as well as sightseeing and jazzclubbing?

A Margarita party on Tuesday!

Usually, it would have been a wine and cheese, because we are Sophisticated Graduate Students (Who Like Wine). But yesterday was Cinco de Mayo, and what better excuse to swap out wine and cheese for margaritas, tortilla chips with extremely dubious nacho sauce, and even cheesier "Mexican" music blasted over the music department's CD player?

The Pony Parents and I ate out at a nice Chinese restaurant, and I made them Hungarian mushrooms and French penne. Yum yum!

And of course you wore masks, just for the flu... (I'm joking...)

I take it that you usually join for wine and cheese on Tuesdays, then? Sounds good.

Silly perelleth! If we wore masks, how could we drink our delicious margaritas?

We have wine and cheese on alternate Tuesdays.

Ooh, lovely! Sounds like you had a ball.

I could drink a margarita about now. Mmmm.

It was a very good weekend. The margaritas were the perfect cap to it. There's nothing quite like knowing that you don't have anywhere to be until two in the afternoon the next day, so you can proceed to get yourself quite drunk starting at 4:30, and then just go home, drink some water, and sleep all you want to avoid the hangover.

Sounds like great fun all the way around! What was the occasion for the visit? Just fun?

Dad Pony had a couple of events in the city -- one was a lecture he was giving, and one was a scholarship event at his old high school. He usually visits every year around the time of the high school scholarship event, and this year, Mom Pony's schedule coordinated so that she could come, too.

Good times.

I'm glad someone is having them and that that someone is you.

All those margaritas out there, needing some poor soul to take pity on them and drink them. I just do my part for society.

Oh wow. It sounds like things went very well, and like you've been having a good time. YAY to happy pony!

It was just the kind of visit that I needed, with just the right amount of taking care of and being taken care of.
