They Come In Droves

What a singing! We had thirteen people in my living room tonight, all singing at the tops of their lungs. I went downstairs to let the twelfth person in, and as I went down three flights of stairs, the sound did not get any softer. I am very grateful to my neighbors for enjoying this once a month.

That sounds like SO much fun. I wish I lived in your building. I would crash the party :)

We'd love to have you! We've got a new singer in the group, who actually lives in one of the buildings that we sing in. His friend sings with us, and she got him to start on a night when we sang in his building. I think this is the best way to deal with neighbors! Just have them sing along.

You have patient neighbors! No one with a sleeping baby, I take it. Or maybe the kid would like the music.

My neighbors are wonderful, wonderful people, no doubt about that.

Babies do remarkably well with shape-note singing. I've seen really little ones just conk out and sleep through it, even at a two-hundred-voice conventions. And when they're awake, they seem fascinated more than anything else. I suspect that, even though it's loud, it's rhythmic enough and constant enough that babies kind of like it.

That sounds like so much fun. When I move, I hope to get involved in some stuff like that again. I don't see much like there here in FL. I hope they still have it in KY. They did when I lived there. You neighbors probably enjoy the free entertainment. I would.

You're awesome. And I live off Tates Creek Rd. Cool! That church, I noticed last time I was there, is within walking distance of my house.
