Almost November!

I'll have to keep reminding myself that it's actually Halloween today. I did all my Halloweening on Saturday, in Milwaukee, at the Halloween Dance. I went as a Dancing Zombie (dancer from the ankles down, zombie from the ankles up), and it was a great costume. The clothes were old clothes that I cut up, and the makeup and spray-in hair color cost less than ten dollars in total. If I do say so myself, I did a phenomenal makeup job! Took me forty minutes, but I had a lovely, well-blended gray-green zombie complexion with deep shadowed eyes with just a little red rimming, a red smear of a mouth, and wild grayish hair (the wild came from me, the grayish came from a can). Didn't win Best Costume, but it was fun to dance in. On the way home, we got to admire lots of trick-or-treaters; apparently Saturday was Halloween all over Milwaukee.

The thing that I like best about it being almost November is that my building may start turning on a bit of heat in the evenings. This would make it warm enough that I wouldn't have to run my hands under hot water for five minutes to loosen them before playing either the gaohu or the violin.

My husband and I did zombies one year--no dancing, though, just lumbering--but we were not nearly so elaborate with the make-up. There was fake blood, though.

Oh, dear. After a very warm day, our temperatures plunged, and I turned on the heat. I am not liking the idea of you shivering away in Chicago.

As a pleasant surprise, we get to kick off November with some relatively warm weather. I'm not complaining!

This is the one day in the year when I even contemplate wearing makeup, and the temptation to go for full stage kit was just too much!
