Ph33r My Mother!

I think that Mom Pony has finally cracked the secret of witchcraft.

I'd had my beloved old winter parka for almost thirteen years. It's big, puffy, really warm, bright red, lightweight, everything you need for winter in the Midwest. And sturdy, too -- see the "thirteen years" part. That parka was part of me! So what if it got to look a bit shabby, it was still functional.

Mom Pony decided, pretty much unilaterally, that I should have a new parka. She tried real hard to get me to buy one, and I said no, because I am a New England girl, and I live and die by the code "Use it up, wear it out, make it do, or do without." That parka was not yet used up or worn out. So Mom Pony started talking to Little Sister Pony about what it would take to get me to let her buy me a new coat. Little Sister Pony said fuggedaboudit, I loved that coat too much.

Well, Mom Pony must have figured out how to send an intention to the universe. I went out grocery shopping today, in the snow, and . . . my zipper broke! Just plain crunched right off! I called up Mom Pony, and she said "Oh dear" in that tone where her words say "Oh dear," and her tone says "Yes! Finally!" I had to order a new coat tonight -- it'll be purple and it should arrive in a few days, and in the meantime I'll make do with a twist tie or a paper clip or something on the zipper. And Mom Pony said she'd help me pay for the coat, which is good, because it's an expense, and I'd really been hoping to stretch this coat at least to the end of this winter.

Also, Mom Pony is corning her own beef now. Ph33r the DIY retiree!

Hmmmm, very suspicious that your zipper gave up the ghost after your mother tried to talk you into a new coat. Well, at least she is using her powers for good!

I guess she's just figured out how to hex my clothes! But, hey, she's helping me pay for the new coat, and I did get it on sale.
