By Popular-ish Demand

Some people have asked to see pictures of the cheese we made over the weekend. Ask and ye shall receive. Here, for your viewing pleasure, are the two half-eaten balls of cheese. They're a little grainier than my usual photos; I'm experimenting with the camera on my iPod. As you may or may not be able to tell, the cheese is rather lumpier than you'd expect from mozzarella. I didn't knead it nearly well enough or long enough, so it's got more the texture of farmer cheese. But it still tastes good, especially on pepper crackers.

Mmm. I'll go check out the mug cake recipe and see how it looks.

Making cheese is kind of fun! You should definitely try it.

Nah, just busy-fingered -- excuse me, a kinesthetic learner. I like to find out how things work and what they're made of and how they come to be the way they are, so I end up being the kind of person who learns how to make things. Because it's generally safer than destroying them, although not always.

While lovely-looking food is nice, if it comes to a choice between looks and taste, I'll always opt for taste. Besides, you seem to have a clear idea of how to make it look even better next time.

I think that kneading the cheese to make it smoother would also improve the texture as well, give it that stringiness that good mozzarella has. Texture probably comes somewhere between looks and taste. But the major point is that it does taste pretty good, you're absolutely right about that!
