Um . . . Aragorn?

As most of you know, I am a big fan of Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings, warts and all. A large part of this is because I've also seen Ralph Bakshi's Lord of the Rings, which, admittedly, is its own special brand of crack-a-licious fun, but which has more . . . significant warts than Jackson's remake.

Now, you may ask: What could possibly improve upon the already psychedelic nature of Bakshi's Lord of the Rings, other than a shortcut to some very special mushrooms? Wonder no more! I have just learned that there were tie-in action figures for this movie! Yes!

Feast your eyes upon a completely random assortment of horses, Hobbits, Ringwraiths, Gandalf the -- well, he claims it's Grey, but it really looks Blue to me, Gollum, and . . . Aragorn, son of Arathorn, known as Estel and Thorongil, the Dúnadan, Strider, Longshanks, and Wingfoot, reigning King of Gondor, Elessar Telcontar, Envinyatar . . . and a snappy dresser!

Gondor has no pants! Gondor needs no pants!

God those cartoons are something! I like Goblin Town and 15 Birds (the songs) in The Hobbit, though. (Ducks and hides). :-)

Ah, well, if it's Rankin and Bass you like . . . I confess to having a soft spot for Where There's A Whip, There's A Way, myself.

Gondor doesn't even need minidresses any more!

Oh my God, Aragorn's undies!

I feel I shouldn't be looking...

Look at the gleam in the action figure's eyes, though. He wants you to look!

(Not that this is necessarily a good thing.)

Those are a hoot. I would buy them if I had nothing else to spend my money on! You cannot beat "Where There's A Whip, There's A Way;" eat yer heart out Howard Shore (ducking flying object--just kidding, just kidding!). Actually, my ex- used to sing "Where There's A Whip, There's A Way" to my son when he was little. Usually involved bedtime or picking up toys. Makes me laugh to think about it.

I have to admit, I kind of want action figures for the whole Fellowship in that style. Action figures of live people rarely turn out well (which is why the Star Wars action figures were so amazingly cool, they were done well), but these are well into "So bad it's good" territory!

"So bad it's good" territory!

That is exactly what attracts me to them.

There are probably some on eBay for insanely high prices, alas.

Aaaaaand I was right. From eBay, the whole collection can be yours for a mere $8300.

Ah, well. Dream on.

Good grief! That price is a nightmare! I guess I am not a true collector. That completely quashed my interest.

I don't think I ever knew these existed.

I dont remember Aragorn ever looking like that.

I may not recover for the rest of the day.

I didn't know they existed, either, until today.

Now . . . I want.
