Graduation was today. I am officially Dr. Pony. I got all dressed up in a lovely maroon robe and a black velvet hat and paraded around my neighborhood in them. My advisor hooded me and gave me a big hug, and then I got a mightily impressive-looking diploma. There were photos and champagne and a party and lots of Chinese food ordered from the best Chinese restaurant in Chicago. And best of all, there were lots and lots and lots of people, coming from California, Wyoming, Louisiana, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York, Florida, Illinois, and the UK, who came over the course of the past ten days to celebrate with me. That was the absolutely best thing of all.
Now I am exhausted. But I am an exhausted Doctor, and that makes all the difference.
