Rumblings

The Hartford Courant has been running lots of little squibs about the upcoming election on Scottish Independence. I'm beginning to wonder just what country I'm about to move to! Will it contain Scotland, or will I have to whip out my passport to go visit the Garnethill Synagogue or go dancing in Edinburgh?

Also on that note, Little Sister Pony pointed out with some glee that when Baby Cambridge II: Electric Boogaloo is born, I'll be right in the middle of that frenzy. I wonder if that might not be a good time to pay a discreet visit to Dot . . .

It'll be interesting to see how this all works out. When we were...somewhere in Europe last year, I was talking to a couple of Scots who told me the voting age had been lowered to 16 just for this referendum.

I heard that, too. I guess that the hook they're promising people is that Scotland would be independently wealthy because of oil in the North Sea. I wait with great interest to find out what's going to happen!

Dot could be glued to the tv, watching Sky News broadcast non-stop images of a closed hospital door. Or not.

And Pony would be perfectly fine with that. Because, at some point, that hospital door will open, and I'm fairly sure that the only thing wilder than Cambridge at that moment would be the mythical moment in an alternate universe in which the Cubs actually might win a Series.

I'm honestly quite jealous. :) You are going to have such a great experience. (Even if some of it will be drama-worthy!)

I'm definitely looking forward to it. It'll be wacky and crazy, but it'll be different wacky and crazy than what I'm used to. New! Exciting!

(And we don't lack for drama here with the Pony Parents, either. Just today, as we prodded the bank about my order for pounds that somehow went awry, I very politely refrained from saying "What kind of an IQ test do you have to fail to be hired by Citizens Bank?" until I was actually outside the bank building!)
