Literary Spam

The strangest thing has happened. For a couple of days now, I've been getting buckets of spam e-mail quoting, of all things, "The Song of Hiawatha." Who knew you could try to sell v14graaa and penny stocks using trochaic tetrameter? Weird.

How bizarre!

Hiawatha-ing is very addictive once you start, though. But I wouldn't have thought that spammers would get hooked.

Still, trochaic tetrameter must add a smidgeon of interest to e-mails otherwise immediately dumped and banned.

Normally, I just delete without even looking at them. But then some verrry familiar names caught my eye, and I realized that, yes, Virginia, that was in fact Hiawatha in my spam. As always, I wonder who actually buys the products that spammers try to sell. Someone must, or else there wouldn't be so much spam around.
