The Maroon Parachute Opens Once Again

I have now seen the apartment that the University of Chicago found for me, and I am happy to report that it is a nice place. It's an unfurnished one-bedroom with lots of light and closet space. It's got an eat-in kitchen and wood floors in the hall, bedroom, and living room. The bathroom is mildly disreputable, but that tends to be the case with buildings of a certain age in Chicago. They're going to clean it and paint it, and replace the stove and the kitchen floor before I move in. There is shopping nearby and a bus stop right outside the front door. rhobike, I don't know yet if singing will be possible there. I'm sure the acoustics in the living room would be good, and it might be big enough to fit the Hyde Park group, but I'd have to check with the neighbors and see if they'd mind.

Well, it was a shock to me to hear her say that.

Figure, she´s is a woman in her fifties, in a country were white people of that age still stick to amazing behavioral stereotypes. For most educated white people of that age in this part of the world (those who never travelled to Euroe or the States at least) appropriate behaviour is what we see in Katharine Hepburn/Cary Grant's movies...and I'm not overdoing the tale that much!

So yes, it took her so long and the meeting was so bad that she suddenly felt the need to go and get drunk! I laughed like mad. Thankfully, things are changing pretty fast!

Well, if it took that much to get her to admit to the pleasures of occasionally drinking away one's sorrows, did you go out with her to acquire the alcohol afterwards?

LOLOLOL! You evil POny! Now I must admit that it is in my "to do list." I was pretty angered myself, so I decided it was best to postpone her education... :-)
