I was going to post and tell you all about the fantastic weekend I had with Dad Pony coming to visit and taking me to a Cubs game and to the symphony. But then I had a seven-hour (well, six hours and a dinner break) marathon Ethnographic Methods class, during which I gave a book report and another presentation, and I'm too tired to do anything but my Hebrew homework and fall into bed.

As my Florida friend would say: Yarr.

I can only imagine. I had a final exam earlier, which meant studying til wee hours + cramming in mandatory GA work + last-minute cramming + actual exam... too much logic for one day. So the tiredness... yeah, I gotcha.

Hope your final went well. And that you celebrate today with a festival of illogic.

Still no grade in yet, but I do feel like I did rather well. I was particularly pleased that I solved the extra credit program, which was very involved but not undoable.

I'm astonished that I managed to complete the packet. On the other hand, it was mostly preposition exercises, which aren't too terribly difficult, just time-consuming.

The weekend was awesome.

OK, so when your dad "takes" you to the Cubs game and the symphony, does that mean he pays or that he pays and also he does the planning and ticket-ordering and transportation plan and all that? Because I fantasize about someday not having to plan every last detail of everything myself and I'm hoping for an opportunity to live vicariously.

Dad Pony bought the tickets -- this is, for him, all part of a larger "event" weekend, so he's prepared to spend a little money on things like Cubs games and the CSO, both institutions he reveres, doesn't get a chance to see live more than once a year or so, and to take me along with him. On the other hand, since his memories of Chicago are permanently rooted on the North Side in 1964, I planned the transportation, since I'm the family Queen of the CTA.

Sounds like you had fun! I can't even get DD to take my call...

I did have fun!

And don't worry. DD will come around when he realizes that he misses you. Also, bear in mind that I live farther away from my family than your country is long, so it's more difficult for Dad Pony to see me than it is for DD to see you.

Yeah, I know. Mom and Yael just emailed me! YEY! They covered A LOT of ground in NY. I can't believe they managed to cram so much stuff into just two days. And still they're travelling! They'll burn themselves out by the time they get to Washington at this rate:) I'm SO jealous!:)

They're planning on Chicago, too, right? Hitting all the highlights.

In the end, no, I'm afraid. They'll be going to Lass Vegas from Chicago after finally connecting with a friend they haven't heard from for 2 years.

I can feel my brain numbing just at the thought of a 7-hour class.

But yay for great weekends! I'm glad you had such a good time with Dad Pony. It sounds enormous fun.

I was stunned to discover that I had actually made it through the class, and after having given two presentations as well. Maybe I really do have the chops for academia.
