Ahh, Doctors

They make you feel better again just so that they can make you feel worse. I have to go in today for a procedure (the ritual draining of the abscess, which I imagine involves the sacrifice of a small goat) that will involve needles, local anesthetic, and a twilight drug, which means I'll be three sheets to the wind for the rest of the day and probably feeling pretty crummy tomorrow.

And I was feeling so much better, too.

Ouch. Well, good luck with it. When all this is over you'll have to treat yourself to something really nice.

I so totally deserve a present. I want to stop going to doctors and feeling crummy.

Re: Good luck and Get well!!
Urgh. Stiff and sore right now, and tired from the drugs, but I'll get better soon. Just in time for them to do something else to me, I'm sure.

Well, yay for twilight drugs! At least you won't remember all the nasty stuff that happens. Boo for feeling crappy due to the drug. I don't remember having problems with Versed (I assume that's what they are giving you?), although it does knock you out for the day.

I'll keep you in my thoughts today.

I got both the twilight and a local anesthetic. Right now, I feel like your icon. I am very glad of LJ, where one can socialize without having to deal with actual people.

Ick.

Good luck with that. At least it's a good day to stay inside. Make them give you some hot chocolate.

Oh, and...

I urgently pray this doesn't serve as inspiration for a fanfic :-)

Ha. Said fanfic would probably involve either a death from raging infection or a random list of swirly dreams. Not too interesting either way.

rhobike and I took the bus to the hospital, and we giggled when the nurse said that the doctors would be a little late due to having to park their Beemers in the snow.

Ouch. I'm sorry you have to go through this, but if the drugs are good, you'll get a little rest. All grad students deserve a good snooze, I'm sure. I hate you had to get it by sacrificing a goat, but sometimes a girl has to do what a girl has to do.

And be glad appendix problems no longer leave you with a scar that looks like you were pieced together in Dr. Frankenstein's lab. You should see my scar. (Don't worry, I won't really show it to you.) It's a doozy.

Take care and I'll be thinking about you.

You know what I want? I totally want Mom Pony to come over and read Madeline to me. The first one, where she gets appendicitis in the middle of the night.

Oh man. I'm so sorry.

I don't mean to sound like a teacher, but what's this doing to your ability to keep up with your classes, both the ones you're teaching and the ones you're taking? I assume all your profs know what's going on.

All my profs are being very understanding, and allowing me to take things slower. I've been assured that I can call for a sub for as many meetings of my writing seminar as I need, and it won't affect my pay, and languages come at their own pace regardless. And my seminar professor says that all my deadlines can be fuzzy ones.

I got a good school, and they're looking out for me.

If by your given value for "going well," you include "starts to sing Claremont as she goes under the twilight*," then yes.

Well, the thing about sacrificing goats, if your religion knows what it's doing, is you get to eat the good bits afterward. And well-raised, well-prepared goat is good stuff.

On a more serious note, hope it goes well and you're feeling better for proper in short order.

Mmmm, goat. There's a Jamaican place on 53rd St. If I felt like going downstairs to let them in, I might call them for delivery.

You need cosseting. Put your foot down and get the cosseters round.

Although you don't really need to sacrifice the goat. Takeaway will do.

Hope you feel better soon.

I do want cosseting. Fortunately, I had rhobike and another friend to get me into and out of the hospital, and Mom Pony is but a phone call away.

Hoping the "clean-up" goes well and that that's an end to it. I've always rather liked the (legal) drugs; sorry they leave you feeling crummy.

Hooray for a good university and understanding profs.

I'm getting a little sick of doctors and drugs, I think.

And now I have a piece of plumbing installed in me. Not fun.

Wow, FP, I'm just scrolling down and I'm aghast at what you had o go through... on your own. Poor thing. BEing alone *and* sick is terrible. receive a belated hug.

What moved me most of your tale was when Mum Pony brought you your glasses so you could see the world around... It reminded me so much of my younger sister, who also needs her contact lenses or glasses to distinguish beyond blurs around here... Hope that you are getting better. Take care of yourself and take your time to rest and heal properly.

I was absurdly grateful to have my glasses. If I'd been thinking straight, I would have packed them before I went to the Student Care Center, but at that point, I could barely remember my own name.

And I'm very glad that Mom Pony stayed the whole week with me. She came out on a one-way ticket, which meant that she could stay as long as I needed her.

Today will be devoted to laying around, I think. Possibly getting dressed, if I have enough oomph to do that.

Coming in late--sorry. I hope it went well and that by today you are feeling better again. That was the end of it, right? They are done torturing you now?

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!

No.

The drain stays in until next Tuesday (during which time I can't take a shower), then they have to take it out. Then I get to have surgery over Spring Break, happy happy joy joy.
