Cookies!

When I brought out the Thorstein Veblen Conspicuous Leisure Thick And Thin Mints tonight, lcohen begged me to take a picture. So, here are two plates of the TVCLTATM in all their glory, along with the blackberries, blueberries, and one box of juice.

Yum! Those look great. What was the general verdict?

The general verdict was positive. And I've still got two plates left! What to do, what to do . . .?

"general verdict was positive" ---yeah, enough with the modesty. Oooohhhh, they were so delicious! Unfortunately I'm in trouble with the mr. now because I raved about the cookies but hadn't thought to grab one for him. Hmm, maybe he'd make them someday. The baking division of labor chez rhobike goes like this: he does anything that involves melting chocolate, I do the rest.

I hadn't known that Thorstein Veblen taught at the U of C. Wow, a famous dead U of C econ prof who's not evil. You know, we were just about to write to the alma mater and tell them that we were never going to send another donation, but we should give them a chance--we could tell them we'll resume donations if they scrap the Milton Friedman Institute idea and put up a Thorstein Veblen Institute on campus instead.

The nice thing about that recipe is that you can do as much or as little of it as you want -- thin chocolate mint wafers are nice things on their own, or you can do them with a blurp of ganache and no coating, or just the coating and no ganache, or you can go all out and do the ganache and the coating. Very versatile.

I think I'll copy the recipe down and bring it to singing for Becky next week. Do you want a copy, too?

It all looks good, but boy, oh boy, I love summer berries.

Looks like a perfectly balanced meal to me.

Chocolate mint cookies and berries are an ideal meal for this sort of thing.

Mmmmmmmmmmmm, cookies.

You know they must be good when they make the Peppridge Farm cookies I have here seem unappealing.

Hmm. What kind of Pepperidge Farm cookies am I up against?

Well, admittedly not Milano or Pirouettes (my faves) but Chessmen (chocolate, though).
