Hijinks Ensue

In theory, I'm flying from Chicago to New England today. In practice, this may or may not happen because of the high winds and booger-freezing cold here in Chicago and the blizzard in New England. The flight has already been delayed by half an hour, and I am keeping a weather eye (rim shot) on the flight status through the airline's website.

Let's all hope this doesn't turn into another Cleveland . . .

I suppose you're hoping to get there in time for Chanukah festivities? I really hope it works out! I'm excited to be with my parents for the first night. I just hope DD1 perks up by then (she's got a little fever and cough and stuffy nose:().

I suppose you're hoping to get there in time for Chanukah festivities?

Considering the weather in New England, I've revised my expectations to "hoping to get there at all."

Well, I hope you make it there too.

I hope you make it! It is freezing and gloomy here on the East Coast also. Just stay safe and well, whatever happens.

I made it! Safe and sound with Mom and Dad Pony.

Ack. I hope it all works out for you. What a pain.

Well if you do get going, have a safe trip home and enjoy your holiday.

Amazingly enough, the flight wasn't canceled. It was delayed several times, but we made it to the East Coast, and now I'm home.

I did get there! We celebrated the first night with Chinese food, but not with candles, because the Pony Parents just renovated the kitchen and still haven't found everything yet.

So glad you made it! Flying can be so dicey with winter weather conditions. The temperature's even going to plunge here tomorrow though I think the precipitation finished up this morning.

Chinese food? (yum) Is that kosher? heh heh heh

I'm glad I made it, too!

Chinese food? (yum) Is that kosher?

Well, not the mu shu pork. But basic beef and chicken and duck and veggies are. In fact, there's long been a custom in the U.S. for Jews to go out for Chinese food on Christmas day.

Oops. 'twas me. Forgot that I'm not automatically logged in here.

Well, if you don't want to go to a fancy hotel buffet, Chinese restaurants are usually your best bet to be open on Christmas day. My husband and I have gone the Chinese route several times on Christmas. (Not this year, though. He's working. At least we'll have desserts with friends at someone's house.)

That's why Jews go out for Chinese food. We also traditionally lean towards movies. The current possibility is Valkyrie, a/k/a "The Hitler Movie With Tom Cruise." We may soon achieve critical mass of people who want to go see it.

Or the Tom Cruise movie where he wears an eyepatch. heh I was looking at the poster. Tom Wilkinson and Kenneth Branagh are in it, not to mention Terence Stamp (but I did just mention him), which I hadn't realized.
