BUH-bye!

And our governor is outta there! The state Senate convicted ol' G-Rod -- unanimous vote, I might add --, hustled him out of office, and swore in Lt. Gov. Quinn this evening. The Senate has also voted unanimously to prevent him from ever holding another political office in the state again. Burn!

Blago's speech for the occasion was quite the trip as well. Trying to pretend that butter wouldn't melt in his mouth, when we all know about him. The speech ranged from disingenuous to treacly to threatening, all in about four minutes. It was astonishing.

The verdict at the singing tonight was that he should have his portrait hung with all the other governors, but it should be painted on black velvet, and he should be wearing a prison uniform. Then we sang two verses of "Morality" for him:

I sigh not for beauty, nor languish for wealth,
But grant me, kind Providence, virtue and health;
Then, richer than kings, and far happier than they,
My days shall pass swiftly and sweetly away.

The vain and the young may attend us a while,
But let not their flatt’ry our prudence beguile.
Let’s covet those charms that shall never decay,
Nor listen to all that deceivers say.

Yes, I saw TV blurbs indicating he was gone though I didn't stick around to watch the news.

So, is this Quinn person worthwhile?

I don't know anything about Quinn. We'll find out soon, though.

Given your record with governors, I'm tempted to say you might as well pre-indict Quinn and save the legislature the trouble later.

That's a good idea. I shall mention it to Alderman Preckwinkle.

Oh lord. I just heard Blago on the radio saying he was just like all the other Americans who have lost their jobs.

No wonder the state house couldn't get rid of his image fast enough.

Yeah, this guy was a nut job right to the end. Boy I bet you are glad to be rid of him!

The latest bit of amusement was the reaction from the state government. They just couldn't get rid of his image fast enough!
